Delft Fencing Club
The Delft Fencing Club is a young, active and ambitious student fencing association. Founded in 2004 as a continuation of the ‘Delftsche StudentenSchermVereniging’ our association has aimed at educating students as fencers who can successfully compete at national tournaments. Furthermore there is attention for ambitious fencers who want try their luck at international tournaments.
Results
The short history of DFC has several successes. Nico Speelman became Dutch champion sabre in april 2009 and leads the national ranking list. Teun Plantinga is a multiple Dutch champion sabre and competed at several world cups. The sabre team became Dutch champion in 2007.
Boudewijn Wisse became third in 2005 on the Dutch championships épée and has competed at several world cups. Other épée fencers were ranked top-10 in the Netherlands and were successfull at several national and international championships.
Structure
To offer students a platform at which they can get to know fencing and to grow both physically as well as mentally, a good structure is required. Our association has a core of about 30 active members. The board is charged with the day-to-day management, supported by several members who perform all kinds of tasks. Furthermore there are two trainers who educate the DFC members en finally there is a beginners trainer who teaches the basic fencing skills to new students.
Training
DFC is a student fencing association linked to the Delft University of Technology. We train at the sports centre of the TU in hall 3. The training schedule for 2010/2011 is:

Trainers
Our association is supported by two trainers, Sef Laschek for sabre and Boudewijn Wisse for épée. About the beginners course and the beginners trainer you can read more at this page.
Sef has many years of experience in competition and has participated in multiple international tournaments, several of which are world cups. In 2007 he became Dutch champion with the sabre team.
Tournaments
The members of DFC participate in multiple national tournaments. There are special student tournaments called Intercities and they also compete in KNAS tournaments that are organised in cooperation with the Koninklijke Nederlandse Algemene Schermbond (the Dutch Fencing Association).
